2. 1995 Centennial cornerstone description - A framed piece of paper 4.25" x 8", possibly an envelope,showing a drawing of the Village Hall. The brass plate says the paper was contained in a metal box that was found under the cornerstone of the Village Hall and recovered in the Centennial year of 1995. The paper, along with newspapers, documents, and artifacts, were contained in a metal box which was part of the 1905 time capsule that was under the cornerstone. The display case containing the items from the metal box, are on display in the first floor Vestibule of the Museum / Library building. Village Hall was built in 1904 and designed by architect Webster Tomlinson. The tower was designed to handle the canvas hoses used by fire department. The tower, used to dry the hoses in the early days, was removed in 1935 and replace during Lake Bluff's Centennial year, 1995. 5. Frederick Cornish - Copy of a letter written by Frederick Cornish to the citizens of Lake Bluff standing up against the anonymous libel attack on his 1902 Village President campaign. His confident letter gathered full support and Frederick Cornish served as Village President from 1902 to 1907. Copy of a June 19th, 1921 Chicago Tribune article covering Attorney Frederick Cornish's suicide. Due to health conditions implying death at any moment, those who knew Cornish believe instead of waiting around he "preferred to go meet" death on his time. Also in file is a piece of black and white film depicting a head shot of Frederick Cornish.

Historic Block for Lake Bluff - Historic Block for Lake Bluff An article in the Pioneer Press about Gary and Jeff Lawrence, owners of the John Griffith Store Building nominated their building located in the 103 East Scranton to 113 East Scranton block. The brothers run Lawrence Interiors out of the building, which also holds Bluffington's Cafe and at one time the Lake Forest Bank and Trust. The building, designed by Stanley Anderson in 1925, of Anderson, Ticknor and Fox, Architects of Lake Forest, also holds four second floor apartments. The article shows a photo of the Griffith Block.

9. Land Transfer from Camp Meeting Trustees of Vanderkloot property, etc. - Land transfer of several properties among different individuals, including Block 8 and Block 9. Also a note by Elmer Vliet on orange paper states: "These papers from Al Kuhlman show conveyance of much land from Camp Meeting Trustees to Fred Cornish and subsequent transfers of North half of Ravine west of Gurney Ave to Vanderkloot. The vacation of Ravine Ave. from Gurney west to Glen was done in two steps. May 15, 1899 part from Gurney west to Prospect and on November 24, 1902, the part from Prospect southwest to Glen See also notes by EBV (Elmer Vliet) taken from Abstract of v.d. Kloot (Vanderkloot) property deeding ravine land to Eliz (abeth) V. D. Kloot May 12, 1899. 11-19-1974. EBV." See also Note 1 in this Catalog The remaining 10 pages outline the transfer of various lots several different blocks in Lake Bluff, including block seventeen (17), thirteen (13) and twenty one (21); beginning with a Quit Claim Deed from the Trustees to the Vanderkloots on November 22, 1900 and commencing with the final transaction on May 23, 1917: Vanderkloot to Ida and Grace McElwain.

Cornes, Industrial Agent for the Chicago North Shore and Milwaukee Railway Company, giving Mawman a copy of the lease, outlined below. A lease between Edward Mawman lessor and the Chicago North Shore and Milwaukee Railway Company lessee for a triangular piece of land at the northwest corner of Scranton Avenue and Mawman Avenue lying between the intersection of the said two streets ... to be used as parking space for patrons of the lessee. A notice to the Illinois Commerce Commission by the Chicago North Shore and Milwaukee Railway to abandon CNS & MRR route which extended from Waukegan to Chicago. Record from the Village of Lake Bluff for the extension and development of property for the electric line. Possible transfer of land for Village Hall. Letter to Allen Kuhlman from Don Brown, of the Waukegan News-Sun, stating Brown has sent clippings, from a previous Board meeting, concerning the proposed creation of a transit authority along the Shore Line. Newspaper clippings include: "Shore Line End Irks Commuters", "City Against Transit Bill", "Sen. McClory Hits Shore Transit Bill", and "Senate May Act Soon On Shore Line Bill".
