Description |
A reprint photo of Village Hall, located at 40 East Center Avenue. Built in 1904 and designed by architect Webster Tomlinson, it originally served as village offices as well as the police and fire departments. The tower was designed to handle the canvas hoses used by fire department. The tower, used to dry the hoses in the early days, was removed in 1935 and replace during Lake Bluff's Centennial year, 1995. Village Hall at one time also housed the town jail. Village Hall was built with $6,500 received from railroad contracts,on land donated by village president Fred Cornish and his wife Alice Cornish. |
