An Architectural and Historic Survey of the Southeast portion of Lake Bluff was completed in 2003. 113 Moffett Road Also included are Multiple Listing Sheets (MLS). The property was once a 17 acres estate with house, two gates and an Orangerie. The house was modeled after "La Lantern," a French chateau located in the park of Versailles. The original owner was Gertrude Carolyn Morse Ely (1869-1954) who was divorced. The house was sold in 1928. Mrs. C. Morse Ely Orangerie "Built as the Orangerie to the Mrs. C. Morse Ely Estate. Later became the guest house with swimming pool and bath house. The Orangerie was separated and sold off from the original estate in the 1950s." (Vliet p. 106-107) |
