2. Bluff Lodge - One of a series of six note cards drawn and printed by Howard Moran. The image depicted in this card is of Bluff Lodge, which was owned and run the Lake Bluff Camp Meeting Association. The building was located on the southeast corner of Moffett road and Prospect Avenue. Bluff Lodge had 52 rooms and could seat 300 guests in its dining room. J. Howard Moran had a greeting card business from 1958 to 1976 called Designers Editions, in which he designed 25 Christmas card every year, as well created a set of note cards depicting 6 scenes of Lake Bluff. Moran later engaged in freelance artwork. He created a 14 panel, 6.5' by 30 feet mural which he created and painted. The mural depicted the history of Lake Bluff and hung in the then First National Bank of Lake Bluff.

3. Camp Meeting Association Headquarters - One of a series of six note cards drawn and printed by Howard Moran. The image depicted in this card is of the house located at 500 North Avenue. The home once located on the south side of Prospect Avenue where the Union Church now stands and served as the office for the Lake Bluff Camp Meeting Association from 1875 until operations ended in 1899. J. Howard Moran had a greeting card business from 1958 to 1976 called Designers Editions, in which he designed 25 Christmas card every year, as well created a set of note cards depicting 6 scenes of Lake Bluff. 5. Dr. James Dewey and Family - Originally from Massachusetts, Dr. James Richard Dewey arrived in Chicago in 1860, after living in Springfield, to teach Greek, Latin, and astronomy at Chicago's first high school called Central High School. He stayed at Central High School for 41 years. Within that time frame, the school expanded and created the West Division branch where Dr. Dewey finished his teaching career. Clara Thatcher was a student of Dr. Dewey. His first marriage with Eliza Jane produced five children, James Jr., Charles, Carrie, Grace, and Elbert. in 1880, Dr. Dewey built a summer cottage in Lake Bluff at 535 Prospect. Elbert recalls his teenager summers in Lake Bluff managing the bath houses. Dr. Dewey's first wife passed away in 1900 and in 1905, at age 76, he married Grace Hickman, age 46. They moved into the Summer cottage after the wedding. Unfortunately, Grace Dewey died from a cerebral hemorrhage in 1912. Dr. James Dewey passed away in 1918. Elbert Dewey moved his family into his fathers cottage after earning his M.D. Eventually, in 1923 he sold the cottage to Rev. Nelson Hall and moved to 538 Center Ave. The original Summer cottage was razed in the 1960s. Short biography of Dr. James Dewey and his son, Elbert Dewey. The hotel occupied the entire block from Prospect Avenue to Center Avenue and from Moffett road to Maple Avenue. J. 8. Jervis Evans - Dr. Jervis Evans was an important and lively Lake Bluff community member during the Tabernacle Days of the old Lake Bluff Camp Meeting Association. Dr. Evans preached sermons, ordained couples, and overlooked the seasonal programs of the LBCMA. He dedicated himself to Temperance Movement, serving as president of the Central Illinois Conference Temperance Society. Copy of the October 29, 1910 Lake Bluff Chat. 11. Notes on Frank Grost - An organized list of facts gathered by Elmer Vliet regarding Leopold Grost's father, Frank. Frank moved to Lake Bluff in 1879 and worked at the Cloes Brickyard shortly before it closed. After that, he picked up a variety of odd jobs such as landscaping for the Lake Bluff Camp Meeting Association and chopping wood for the North Western Railroad. This document also includes some brief information about Leopold's mother, Elizabeth, such as her maiden name (Rieffen), arrival in Lake Bluff (1886), and job (working for the Fowler Hotel).

17. Solomon Thatcher - Correspondence between Elmer Vliet and various relations of Solomon Thatcher, Jr. about the history of the Thatcher family, in particular Lake Bluff and River Forest. Letters to Anne Thatcher Cram about Camp Meeting days in Lake Bluff; genealogy of the Thacher family Vliet's letters between Jim Getz, and Mr. Chunn. The letters were written between 1973 and 1978, when Vliet was gathering information for his book Lake Bluff : The First Hundred Years A Xerox copy of two articles the Thatcher's in River Forest. Vliet's typed notes : Thoughts on the Thatcher family. Elmer was clarifying the Thatcher line, as well as handwritten notes. Solomon Thatcher, Jr. (1833 - 1894), purchased land in Lake Bluff from the Gurnee heirs and from Ben Cloes for the future Lake Bluff Camp Meeting Association. According to Vliet's book, Thatcher wrote of his desire "to create a resort where 'during the heater term people might rest from the tumult and excitement of city life. . . '" The Lake Bluff Camp Meeting Association (LBCMA) was formed in 1875, with Thatcher as its president. Also a Xerox four page Centennial River Forest program from 1936. Koppedraijer says Thatcher was directly involved in the establishment of the first River Forest Methodist church in 1871. He was a real estate developer and in 1875 became president of LBCMA. This wood structure replaced an earlier tented version, and was used to house religious meetings held by the Lake Bluff Camp Meeting Association. 21. Whole Village Turned Out - A Daily News Sun from January 31st, 1921 which includes an article detailing Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lyon's Golden Wedding celebration held in the Village Hall auditorium. Harry Lyon and his wife are one of the original Lake Bluff Camp Meeting Association founders and when Lake Bluff became a village, Harry served as Village Trustee.

Youth Day Speech Involving Leopold Grost - Seven pages, five typed on yellow paper and two handwritten on gridpaper, outlining a speech prepared by Elmer Vilet about growing up and daily life during the transition era of the Lake Bluff Camp Meeting Association becoming an incorporated village. Leopold Grost (referred to as Leo, Liep, or Lieb) arrived in Lake Bluff in 1896 - a year after the village's incorporation. His memories and stories assisted Elmer in painting the picture of this era. Leopolds father worked in the Cloes Brickyard and his mother worked in the Fowler Hotel as a cook. Elmer uses Leopold's childhood memories in tandem with the history of Lake Bluff. The end of his speech highlights Leopold's milestones. Also land transaction documents.
