Isabella Ross, 76 Lake Bluff Founder Dies - An obituary from Lake Forest News dated January 9, 1936 for Isabella Ross who was a charter member of Lake Bluff Woman's Club, post mistress for two years and owner and editor of Lake Bluff Chat, a weekly newspaper. Ross was a graduate of Northwestern University and taught music in the area. She was also art of the artist colony in Lake Bluff. Two Xerox articles, one from Lake Bluff Chat were Ross has an advertisement offering to teach piano to locals.

39. Isabella Ross letter to Village - A letter written by Isabella Ross to the Village of Lake Bluff asking the Village Board to accept her proposal to reestablish Lake Bluff Chat, a local newspaper. Ross is requesting that the village provide a complete report of each regular meeting and have the Village make payment to her for such. Lake Bluff Chat was established in 1909. The letter by Ross is undated. Isabella Ross was a charter member of Lake Bluff Woman's Club, post mistress for two years and owner and editor of Lake Bluff Chat, a weekly newspaper. 42. Margaret Anderson - Margaret Anderson was a journalist, author, and editor of the Little Review. Obituary dated October 29, 1973 from Time magazine Excerpts from Anderson's book My Thirty Years' War Two Xerox Lake Bluff Chat articles, one dated March 11, 1915 mentions Anderson and other artists such as John Cotton from Lake Bluff; and another from December 24, 1914 Chat about Miss Anderson taking the Bunting cottage after being frozen out of the Parkhurst house. Also a print out from the January 21, 1915 Chat stating that Anderson was arrested and fined ten dollars for trespass and damage to property, the warrant was sworn out by Henry Bunting. A Xerox excerpt with photos on Anderson from the Women of Montparnasse. Also an article from the Chicago Tribune describing the life of Chicago's literary artists in the early 20th Century. Anderson lived in Lake Bluff and set up a tent colony on the beach. She once said to the Chicago Tribune : We are not odd, it is the common herd who are off. A typed page and a half excerpt from the November 5, 1915 Chat, that quotes Anderson saying a cigarette is protest and that she has been in revolt since she was 8. 26 pages from the book Chicago Renaissance by Dale Kramer on Anderson.
