After several visits and many discussions, he became enthused with the idea that his knowledge and his photographs could be made available to all school children and also be enjoyed by the community. As a result, in the summer of 1982, he donated his collection to the project and provided the school district with funds toward sustaining the project. Two large unused classrooms in the East School were provided to house the donated materials along with the items already assembled by the two teachers … thus creating a local "museum." In October 1982, the School Board held a formal dedication of the area and aptly named it "Vliet Center for Lake Bluff History." (LBHM Website)

12. George Bowen - A 1933 article about President Herbert Hoover appointing postmasters in Lake County. George Bowen's term as postmaster expired the previous December. A 1934 article about Commander George Bowen of American Legion post 515 (later 510) attending the Illinois State convention held in Peoria. A 1942 World War Two registration card for Bowen, who was 47 years old, worked at Abbott Laboratories and lived at 218 East Sheridan Place. Bowen had created American Legion films of Lake Bluff, Lake Forest, Waukegan, and New York in 1934 and took photos of the Beach in the mid 1940s, all are digital. Bowen was often referred to as Archie Bowen, using his middle name instead of George. Contents of what is on the 16 mm film reel he shot in 1934.

18. Obituary for the Lefflers - Obituary for Marlin Templeton Leffler in the Chicago Tribune. Leffler graduated from Miami University of Ohio in 1932, and recieved a master's and doctor's degree from the University of Illinois. Leffler was a researcher at Abbott Laboratories from 1936 until 1959, and then Abbott's research liaison director from 1959 to 1972. During World War II, he helped develop different types of medicine against malaria. He was also a member of the Lake Bluff Village Board during the 1940s and 1950s.
