Instructor at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts from 1904 to 1910. His work from the 1910s included commissioned portraits, pastels of Chicago and Lake Bluff, and large murals for public buildings (none of which remain). He produced wood cuts, set designs and illustrations that accompanied Corbin's published works. - Wood block illustrations for Adam's Dreams, a series of children's Bible plays, and for Corbin's translation of Hans Christian Anderson's Best Fairy Tales. - Set and costume designs for Alice and Wonderland. Exhibited at Chicago Academy of Fine Arts, Art Institute of Chicago and many galleries. - A 1911 exhibit included Henderson with Mary Cassett and Robert Henri. - His paintings and pastels were the subject of a one-man exhibit in 1913. In New Mexico, Henderson was central to a burgeoning arts community and a founder of New Mexico Painters Society, and he produced brilliantly lit landscapes of New Mexico and its society. A June 26, 1908, exhibition of Henderson's paintings was held at the Durand Art Institute of Lake Forest for the benefit of the Alice Home Hospital. |

Won the Paige Traveling Scholarship allowing for study in Europe in 1902 and 1903. Chicago Tribune included him in the "Great Nine" Chicago painters of the age (1915). In 1925 Henderson and his son-in-law formed a building company through which he designed and built homes and public buildings. During the 1930s he worked under the auspices of the Federal Arts Project. |
