Chicago Mayor William Hale Thompson's boat - Sepia color photo of Chicago Mayor William Hale Thompson's boat. William Hale Thompson, mayor of Chicago from 1915-23 and 1927-31. Called most corrupt mayor in US. History. In 1924, while out of office, Thompson hatched a publicity plan involving John Crosby of Lake Bluff, a well known Chicago ad man to undertake a sea voyage to the south sea islands to look for a tree climbing fish. The ship left Chicago and traveled down the Mississippi to New Orleans where Thompson jumped ship and the trip ended.

USMC WWII Sun Helmet
USMC World War II Sun Helmet utilized by an officer of the Navy. Helmet is made of stiff tan material with emblem of a silver eagle sitting atop of American flag shield, with gold swords and anchors. Helmet belonged to a Lieutenant Crosby, as his name is labeled on the inside. The original chin strap has snapped on the right but the interior sweat strap is still in tact.
