Village Market |
Description |
A reproduced black and white photo showing the Post Office in a small building on the North side of East Scranton Avenue and beside it a jewelry store building. Across the street were numerous small frame buildings, a bakery, a real estate office and a pharmacy, among others. The Village Market, the tall two story building to the right of and across the street from the current (2025) Post Office, is the oldest commercial building in the village. Its bricks were said to have come from the Cloes brickyard, located in the Birch Road area. This building was built for the new Helming's Grocery Store and Meat Market, which replaced an earlier frame building at the same location, the northwest corner of Scranton Avenue and Walnut Avenue, today 24 East Scranton Avenue. |
