An Architectural and Historic Survey of the estates of Lake Bluff completed in 2008 111 Moffett Road Commonly known as the Mrs. Caroline Morse Ely Estate house, was designed by David Adler in 1923. It originally was situated on 16 acres, but has since be subdivided. Ely built "Le Lanterne," modeled after a French chateau near Paris. About 1950, the estate was subdivided into five parcels. The huge north wing of the main building was detached and moved west to become another large residence. (Vliet 106) |
