Lake Bluff Pharmacy |
Description |
Two color photos showing the east corner of the Lake Bluff Pharmacy, a few cars along the street and the Harlan apartment building to the east. Also visible is a sign for Luich's Ice Cream. The pharmacy, was owned and operated by Graham Munch. In February, 1958 Munch retired and donated the building to the library on the condition that he retain his residence on the second floor. Munch died ten months later, on December 7, 1958. When Munch retired, he sold his business to his assistant, Howard Willms, who built the brick building just east of this frame building. The brick pharmacy remained in that location until the mid-1970s, when Willms built a brand-new building on the site of the original pharmacy. The new Lake Bluff Pharmacy closed in the late 1990s, and other businesses now occupy both buildings. The original pharmacy was located at 40 East Scranton Avenue and the new brick pharmacy was at 100 East Scranton Avenue. |
