Sparkles, Lake Bluff Turkey - Several articles about "Sparkles," also known as Jeff or Tom, a wild turkey that made its home at the intersection of Route 176 and Green Bay Road and interrupted traffic for several months during the summer of 2010. Although the police department was very concerned about safety (Sparkes was responsible for at least one crash), Sparkles won the hearts of the Lake Bluff community and gained a huge social media following. There was a significant debate about whether Sparkles should be euthanised or captured and taken to a safer place. He was finally captured by Lake Bluff resident Garon Fyffe on August 6, 2010. Also includes a Lake Bluff Turkey-themed T-shirt and baseball cap.
