4. Historical Research Center - An article from the News-Advertiser about District 65 establishing a Historical Research Center at East School. The center was named the Elmer Vliet Student Center for Historical Research, in recognition of Vliet's contribution to the school district. The Center was the brain child of Vliet, who lived at 411 East Prospect Avenue, and two members of the D65 faculty: Kathy O'Hara, social studies chairperson, and Janet Nelson, library coordinator. The Center exists today as Lake Bluff History Museum

6. Lake Bluff primary class - Early photo of Lake Bluff primary class. Yellow dot above the head of Waino Peterson. Lake Bluff East School. Waino Peterson moved with his parents to Lake Bluff in 1895 where he attended school. In November 1907 Waino became the Marshal of Lake Bluff. On August 10, 1910, he was shot by resident Michael Mines and spent five months in the hospital and received $2,300 in damages. Waino later became Chief of Police in Winnetka, Illinois.

10. Lake Bluff Schools create center for historical memorabilia - An article from the Pioneer Press on the establishment of the Elmer Vliet Center, which was set up in a room at East School. Vliet donated his Lake Bluff artifacts to the center, which was run by the library and social studies staff.

Northa Vliet Edwards - Northa is the daughter of former Village president and active community member who also served as a key figure in the creation of our local museum, The Vliet Museum for Lake Bluff history. Born August 2nd, 1933, she grew up in Lake Bluff attending Lake Bluff School. Northa served on the Lake Bluff History Museum board. 1946 Tom Sawyer operetta program with North preforming as on of "Becky's friends." 1947 Dawn Boy operetta program with Northa apart of the chorus. Lake Bluff School class of 1947 commencement program. Featuring Northa's name in the graduating class list and Elmer's listed under school board members. Email to Northa from Tom Tincher regarding purchasing blinds for the office and mezzanine of the museum. Northa ultimately selected and purchased them herself. Copy of a memorial card.
