A black and white photo of McCormick's Restaurant and Lounge. The photo was taken on Halloween at night. The brick building is cast in shadows and carved pumkins line the roof top. Located at Routes 176 and 41, the restaurant was started by owner's grandparents and uncle in 1955. Anne McCoy and her mother Lois McCormick Sorenson, current owners, decided to close in 2009 because of the lack of customers. For decades, when Lake Bluff forbade the sale and consumption of liquor, McCormick's, in the unincorporated area, was the place to gather for a burger and a beer. Other short-lived eateries occupied the premises. On February 24, 2019, a fire engulfed the building and it was totally destroyed, including the furniture restoration and sales business that occupied the building at the time.
