Some key items mentioned that cause Bluff erosion are: wave attack and high lake levels, lack of soil sediments, weakness of soil type, lack of vegetation on the Bluff slopes, and water bearing soil stratums. The panel provides many photos throughout the years of ongoing erosion to the bluff and a graph on Lake Michigan's water levels. It was not until the 1970s that the changes were made to rectify the problem. This panel mentions outhouses, sewage systems, and waste water treatments. This panel discusses pollution in the 1960s, the Federal Clean Water Legislation in 1965 and 1972, and the use of pump stations.

10. Great Lakes Invasive Species - Panel in Exhibit: The Lake: The Lake Bluff and Michi Gami Panel discusses how the Great Lakes became interconnected and how this opened them up to invasive species. The panel discusses the creation of canals to connect the Great Lakes which allowed for invasive species to swim upstream into the Great Lakes. Additionally, the panel mentions ships allowed for invasive species to hide in ballast tanks of the ships and then were dumped in the Lakes and the reversal of the Chicago River allowed for invasive species as Lake Michigan and the Mississippi River were now connected. The panel specifically calls out the species Asian Carp as they lay over one million eggs a year and eat over 120% of their body weight.

Human Action Human Impact - Panel in Exhibit: The Lake: The Lake Bluff and Michi Gami Panel talks about all the contaminants that are harmful to lake quality including sewage, industrial waste, farm and lawn fertilizer runoff, and chemicals. The panel specifically mentions Phosphates, Phosphorus, and Nitrogen as chemicals that cause harmful algal blooms (with carriers of these items being farm fertilizer and home detergents). The panel next to it discusses PFAs, or "forever chemicals", that are dumped by manufacturers and have been made worldwide since 1940s. In addition, the panel mentions that with scientific and technological advances we get harsher chemicals that eventually make their way into the Lake. On this panel are also graphics that show the source of PFAs, possible health effects, and a way to limit exposure to PFAs and other toxins.

Lake Bluff drew water from two different springs, not Lake Michigan, and over time dug wells and implemented water tanks. Around 1900 the Village began installing cast iron water mains, these pipes then became the foundation for the Village's water distribution system. The panel next to it has charts about the Artesian Wells and the Municipal Water Services along with a map on the Finished Water Transmission System. This panel also talks about the Central Lake County Joint Action Water Agency, which Lake Bluff is a part of, that services 19 communities over 32 miles.
