21. Gilbert Sackerson - A two page article from the Lake Forester on the retirement of two East School custodians : Gilbert Sackerson and Richard Winemiller. Sackerson retired after 28 years. Sackerson began his work at East School in 1951 where, in his early days there, he worked a three-way split shift that started at 5 a.m. driving the school bus. He later hired his wife Gladys who worked at the school for two years. Sackerson worked with Richard Winemiller for several years.

The center was named the Elmer Vliet Student Center for Historical Research, in recognition of Vliet's contribution to the school district. The Center was the brain child of Vliet, who lived at 411 East Prospect Avenue, and two members of the D65 faculty: Kathy O'Hara, social studies chairperson, and Janet Nelson, library coordinator. The Center exists today as Lake Bluff History Museum
