Harp Performer and Composer Began performing as a harp soloist, ensemble member, or accompanist in her teenage years, visiting Chicago and other Midwest locations. Harpist in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under Music Director Theodore Thomas as early as 1900. Active in Chicago music from 1900 to her death in 1941 - Member and lead harp teacher at the American Conservatory of Music - Vice President of the Musician's Club of Women - Director of the Civic Music Association Identified as one of the best known women harpists in the country in 1908 and as Chicago's best harpist in 1926. Gave talks on the history of harp music (which included performances) for church groups, women's clubs, and civic associations in Chicago, Waukegan, Racine, and other North Shore communities. |
