  2. Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Town and Tennis Club Notes - Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Town and Tennis Club Notes. The Meeting notes are as follows: (1) Reviewed Tournament Committee's schedule, cost of stationery, profit on the Bridge Party, Grounds Committee Request, American Legion Ice Carnival Committee event, motion passed to investigate if people were interested in table tennis (ping pong). (2) Tournament Committee asks for donations, 30 new members for the Club, refusal of permit to play ice hockey on ice skating pond, village elections held on April 15th. (3) Balance is $88.65, donation for a tennis trophy has been received, 75 people attended table tennis tournament, Open house for new members will be held. (4) Proposal for club to sponsor a drama club. (5) Members whose due were in arrears, instruction for tennis should be given to junior members only, a "Dub" Tournament shall be held in May, letter from Lake Forest High School was read stating that members of the Town and Tennis club were using their tennis courts. (6) 9 new junior members and 2 new voting members, 120 junior members fill out questionnaire about tennis instruction, over 50 members played in "Dub" Tournament, Formal Dinner Dance is going to be held, response letter from the chairman of Lake Forest High School over the use of the tennis courts. (7) Treasurer's balance is $97.75, club is participating in the 4th of July Parade, 50 junior members are receiving tennis instruction, purchase of fourth trophy, proposal for club to sponsor a beach party, subject of community center was brought up but postponed for future action. (8) Tournament Dates, Classifications and Entry Fees for Club Members. (9) 40 junior members receiving free tennis instruction, expenses. (10) Bowling Alleys reserved, proposal for club to sponsor bowling, topic was tabled. (11) Balance is $101.80, beach clean up, organization of bowling league, Methodist Church will sponsor bowling league, motion was made and passed to put up a bang board, letters being sent out to prospective members about joining the club. (12) Treasurer balance of $65.14, end of tennis tournament, presenting trophies to winners, By-law draft and revision. (13) Outstanding bills reported by the treasury, by-law amendments, vote on committee chairmen. (14) Treasurer balance of $53.58, motions moved and passed for people to be added to the Membership Committee, Social Committee, Tournament Committee, Publicity Committee, Instruction Committee, and Grounds Committee. (15) Balance of $51.12 but still some bills outstanding, vote on committee chairmen. (16) Balance $54.78, planning of exhibition matches, ice skating instructors are trying to be found, plans for sleigh rides in January.

Tournament Committee - Tournament Committee (1) Invitation Card to attend meeting of the Lake Bluff Tennis Club, sponsored by the Tournament Committee for the purpose of electing officers and completing a yearly program. (2) Ladder based on previous year's tournaments was to be arranged, matches are to be arranged and handled through the Committee, the proposal for a permanent trophy for the Men's and Women's 1st Class was taken favorably, Exhibition matches were discussed, cost and benefits of joining the Western Lawn Tennis Association, Invitation Tournament was discussed, ownership of portable bleachers, Badminton Club Ladder, to avoid criticism the addition of a high school or college student to the board will be added. (3) Ladder Tournament to continue throughout the season, an exhibition match, permanent three-leg trophies for singles tournament winners, the set up of temporary bleachers at the courts for the exhibition match, list of experienced players who agreed to judging the semi-final and finale tournaments, the Annual Tournament schedule. (4) Very little interest shown in Ladder Tournament, exhibition was well received by community, great interest was shown in Dub Tournament, slow donation progress for tophies, statistics for Annual Tournament, trophy prices are about 15% more than previous years. (5) Very little interest shown in Ladder Tournament, Exhibition matches took place and were well received but had low attendance due to cold weather, great interest was shown by members for the Dub Tournament, $25 donation for trophy was used to by the L.H Waidner Trophy for Men's A Singles, the Annual Tournament statistics. (6) Formulation of plans for the coming tennis season, final report of the 1940-1941 committee was read, list of items still awaiting disposition. (7) All items pending from 1941 tournament have been cleared, indoor tennis play possibly at the local high school gym, American Legion film of athletic events.

Various Letters From Edgar (Edward) Peske - Various Letters From Edgar (Edward) Peske (1) Letter from Edgar Peske to Archie Bowen saying to make arrangements with retail athletic suppliers so members can purchase equipment at a discount, determine whether the Lake Forest High School tennis courts can be used by the Club's members, arrange with Park Board for bleachers at the tennis courts when exhibitions or tournaments are played, and investigate the cost and methods of financing a lighting system at the tennis courts. (2) Letter from Edgar Peske to Bill Densmore detailing a meeting at Village Hall by the Social and Membership Committee and to have a report of past and planned future activities, financial reports, and recommendations for discussion in order to expedite the meeting. (3) Letter from Edgar Peske to Paul Heerens confirming the use of Village Hall. (4) Letter from Edgar Peske to Archie Bowen attaching final correspondence with Highland Park School, a suggestion to secure financial concession from a nearby golf course, and possibility of sponsoring bowling one night a week. (5) Letter from Edgar Peske to Edward W. Burkill confirming arrangements for the use of Village Hall. (6) Letter from Edgar Peske to Harold Hawes about Peske serving on a special committee in which they review the Club's bylaws to determine if they fit the Club's needs and to formulate any changes, included is also a list of questions that Peske raised. (7) Letter from Edgar Peske to all Officers and Committee Chairmen reminding them about a meeting at Village Hall that only voting members are allowed to attend, and then everyone is present and report the activities of their committees.
