6. Terlato Family, Wine Importers - Article about Anthony Terlato and his sons John and Bill, and their impact on the imported wine industry. Anthony's father founded Paterno Imports, one of Chicago's first self-serve retail wine and spirits stores. Anthony took over Paterno Imports in the late 1960s, building it into the foremost American importer of Italian wine. In the 1980s, he was joined by his sons. Since then, they have expanded to import wine from France, Australia, Greece, and other places. In 1995, Anthony purchased the Armour Estate at Tangley Oaks, saving it from potential demolition.
