Musician and Songwriter In 1966, members of Nite-Owls, a college band formed in Carbondale in the early 1960s, joined Chicago-based Rotary Connection, one of the first American psychedelic soul bands. Jon Stocklin was lead guitar and wrote many of the group's songs. Rotary Connection signed with a subsidiary of Chess Records of Chicago, ultimately recording 6 albums in its 1966 - 1974 heyday. The group toured nationally. Stocklin and others from the Rotary Connection also recorded and toured with Howlin Wolf and with Big Twist and the Mellow Fellows. After the success of the 1960s and 19702 faded, Stocklin continued to compose music but moved away from performing. |
