David Smithson - A brief biography of David Smithson who served in World War I for three and a half years and served in World War II as Lieutenant Commander in the Navy. He died May 3, 1945 of a cerebral hemorrhage in the line of duty. Smithson was a civic leader, occupying several positions in local government, among them were : Village Trustee, Village President, attorney for the Park District and Justice of Peace. A Letter to Smithson dated February 24, 1943 giving him an update on the Township group meeting, and that Robert McClory was placed on the ticket to finish Smithson's term. A Chicago Tribune sketch by Gary Sheahan and a brief article on Smithson dated July 2, 1944. Also an obituaries for Smithson dated May 25, 1945 from the Lake Forester. A business card for Travelers Insurance company He lived at 546 East Scranton Avenue.

Letter to Rosenhagen from Grower - Elmer Vliet's note on orange paper summarizes the letter between George Grower and Bernhard Rosenhagen: "To these papers from Al Kuhlman pertain to the vacation of Ravine Ave. running E from Evanston to Glen south of block 8 and north of the ravine. It would appear that Mr. Grower who sold lot 10 Block 8 to Rosenhagen felt that the street vacation of 1914 was not valid whereas Village Attorney Max. Pryzaborski who was newly appointed by Mr. Mawman who became Village President May 1925 felt that it was. About 1932 Mr. McMaster asked the Village Board to vacate this block of Ravine Avenue. On advice from Dave Smithson no action was taken. November 19, 1974 EBV." (Elmer Vliet)
