European reporter and foreign editor for the "Chicago Dail News" and other papers from 1909 into the '30s. First recipient of the Pulitzer Prize for Foreign Correspondence, in 1929. "Chicago Daily News" chief editorial writer in 1934, editor in 1935. - Retired from the newspaper in 1944 and moved to New Hampshire to focus on Poetry. Named New Hampshire's first Poet Laureate in 1968. |
