A letter to Elmer Vliet from J. R. Soulberg, president of The First National Bank of Lake Forest, thanking Vliet for his interest opening a National Bank in Lake Bluff. Attached to the letter is a second letter signed by W. Eugene Danneberg of Mid-West National Bank of Lake Forest (located at 1811 Sheridan Road, North Chicago), stating the need for an additional banking facility in Lake Forest. The second letter describes the capitalization structure and stock sales for the new bank. The First National Bank of Lake Bluff opened April 15, 1965 in a leased building at 30 East Scranton Avenue and moved to 120 East Scranton Avenue in 1972. This building later served as the location of Northern Trust Bank and PNC Bank, before it was demolished in June, 2025. |
