In 1889 Charles Sumner Frost partnered his Chicago architecture company with Alfred Granger's. They were brother-in-laws who both married a daughter of a prominent Chicago resident, Martin Hughitt, President of the Chicago and North Western Railroad. the Frost & Granger firm designed many stations for the Chicago and North Western Railroad, including Lake Bluff's train station.
