War Department issued wallet to hold an Officer's identification papers. Found in this wallet: PWB (Psychological Warfare Branch) Official Pass issued to Captain Donald McCammon. Among the items found was a Dr.'s prescription. Don McCammon was a World War 2 veteran from Lake Bluff. He served from 1941 to February 1946. "After six months of in combat anti-aircraft battalion in New Guinea, he was chosen, because of his previous United Press International service, to be executive editor of the newly formed Psychological Warfare Branch in Gen. Douglas McArthur's headquarters". Pioneer Press McCammon lived at 32 East Washington Avenue McCammon's file in the Museum contains many Pioneer Press articles written by him about his experiences during the war and local interest. |
