A series of letters between Vera Flach and Elmer Vliet totaling 16 pages. In the letters Vera talks about her recollections of old Lake Bluff. Her grandfather Jervice Evans built the Tabernacle and a hotel that later burned. Of an oil painting of her grandfather that hung in the chapel of Hedding College where he was president. Vera talks about sending silverware and the painting. Vliet talks about beginnings of the Lake Forest Lake Bluff Historical Society and of a canon ball that was found by Honorary Director James Getz on Green Bay Road, which was thought to be of French origin dating by the 1700s The Jesuit cross carved in a tree on Michale Mines property, found by John Cole. Also mentions the Lake Bluff Chat October 29, 1910 mentions the death of Dr. Evans Vera died May 28, 1975 |
